Tony served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and retired from John Deere Company after serving in many managerial capacities in the United States and Australia.
He was past Grand Knight and member of the Knights of Columbus Council 7282 in Sun City Center, member of the Lions Club, volunteer for the Sun City Center Security Patrol and active volunteer and member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church. He spent his entire life in service to others.
Tony was preceded in death by his wife, Mary; brothers Edwin, Jerry and Henry Hoying; and by sisters Regina Eilerman, Anna Marie Aselage, Louise Boerger and Bernadette Gaier.
Survivors include sons Stephen (Diane) Hoying, Kenneth (Cindy) Hoying, Richard (Connie) Hoying and F. Joseph (Mary) Hoying; daughter Karen Stansell; brothers Linus (Mary) Hoying, Eugene (Patricia) Hoying and Patrick (Patricia) Hoying; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, April 3, 2016, at Sun City Center Funeral Home, 1851 Rickenbacker Drive, Sun City Center.
Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. Monday, April 4, at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 702 Valley Forge Blvd., Sun City Center.
Interment with military honors will be in Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Fla. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 702 Valley Forge Blvd., Sun City Center, FL 33573; Sun City Center Security Patrol, 1005 N. Pebble Beach Blvd., Sun City Center, FL 33573; or Southeastern Guide Dogs, 4210 77th St. S.E., Palmetto, FL 34221.
