Ruth D. Allen

Ruth D. Allen, 106, died under hospice care on Sunday, April 10, 2016, at Sun Terrace in Sun City Center.
She was born in Blakesburg, Iowa, on August 4, 1909. Ruth graduated from the University Hospital in Chicago in 1938. She married William Allen in 1932. They retired to Sun City Center in 1963.
Ruth volunteered with the SCC Emergency Squad for 20 years, first as an EMT and later as a dispatcher. She was an avid bridge player. Her husband Bill died in 1972.
Ruth moved to Sun Towers 19 years ago, keeping busy with bridge and volunteering in the General Store until December 2015.
Ruth is survived by a niece and other relatives, and a host of friends in Sun Towers. There will be a memorial service there at a later date.
