Mildred Louise Black, 88, entered into eternal peace Saturday, May 7, 2016. She passed peacefully in her home with happy thoughts of joining her beloved husband of 59 years, Jack Black.

Mildred was born Oct. 30, 1927, a daughter of the late James Leonard Burnett and Clyde L. Burnett (Roberts). She attended Hillsborough High School and worked for the Pinellas County School District as a secretary in the Psychological Services Department. She married the late Jack Black in October 1943, and they were together until his death in 2002.

Mildred was a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Sun City Center. Mildred was a very kind and gentle soul; she had a loving and generous heart, and was always giving to others.

Mildred leaves behind three devoted children: Jacquelyn Glandon, Stephen Black and Leonard Black; one surviving sibling, Lenora Perry of Baldwin, Ga.; and sister-in-law Nancy Burnett of Brandon. She is also survived by grandchildren Danielle, John, Jack, Courtney and Brittany; and great-grandchildren Charlotte, Natalee, Abigail and Joshua. She was preceded in death by sisters Virginia Burnett Whitlock, Irene Burnett Singletary and Dorothy Burnett Kehoe; and brothe James Leonard Burnett.

Friends and relatives are invited to celebrate Mildred’s life at noon on Saturday, May 21,  at National Cremation & Burial Society, 308 E. College Ave., Ruskin.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to C.A.R.E, Critter Adoption & Rescue Effort, Inc., 1528 27th St. S.E., Ruskin, FL 33570.
