BEVERLY M. SMITH
Beverly M. Smith of Kings Point, Sun City Center, Fla., passed away Tuesday, July 5, 2016 at Braden River Rehabilitation Center, Bradenton, Fla., of complications from her battle with pancreatic cancer.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 wonderful loving years, Alexander Miller Smith and their son Douglas Scott Smith.
Bev was born in Irvington, N.J. She and Miller had two children, Beverly Alexis Swenson (son-in-law, Rick) and Douglas Scott Smith (daughter-in-law Meredith). Doug passed away in 1982 at the age of 29.
Bev and Miller moved to Sun City Center from Beach Haven, N.J. in 1989. She was a member of the SCC Woman’s Penny Poker Club and attended countless bingo games in the area. She was known to often win poker, bingo and in life.
She was known for her cooking, baking, telling a great story, entertaining, knitting, crocheting and her vast teddy bear collection. Her gift to all who knew her were wonderful memories. To all her many friends, please know you were truly loved. She was the best mother a daughter could ask for. For any memorials, Bev’s favorite charities were the American Cancer Society, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital and the Alzheimer’s Association. Bev will be truly missed by her family and many friends.
Both Bev and Miller donated their bodies to science.
