Genevieve Lapinski

January 18, 1931 – September 25, 2016

Genevieve Lapinski
Genevieve Halelani Lapinski of Kings Point passed on to her heavenly life on Sunday, September 25, 2016, after suffering a heart attack in her home. She was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, on January 18, 1931, to the late Henry and Dora Machado, the youngest of six children. She was the widow of Joseph Lapinski who died in 2007. She also was predeceased by two brothers, two sisters, a son Douglas, a grandson Shawn Bowman, and a great-grandson Olcigi Kelani Perkins. She leaves behind three daughters, Deanna (James) Bowman, Phyllis (Mike) Luman, and Janine Feinberg, a son, Evan (Heidi), 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and many dear friends, whom Gene said made life worth living. Gene had been an avid golfer, bowler and snow skier in her earlier years. She sang in the Kings Point Choir, served on Prince of Peace Catholic Church's bereavement ministry, gave hula lessons, helped first-grade students learn to read, and more recently kept herself busy running errands for her neighbors and attending live shows and concerts. She also enjoyed playing her organ at home. She was a member of the Pennsylvania, Ohio and Michigan clubs. Her family is very grateful for the care and comfort provided by Sun City Center Hospice House. A funeral Mass to celebrate her life was held on Tuesday, October 11, at Prince of Peace Catholic Church.
