Barbara Jo Schickedanz

Barbara Jo Schickedanz, 67, of Sun City Center, Fla., passed away Thursday, October 13, 2016, after a courageous 17-year battle with cancer.
She was born in Belleville, Ill. to the late Elmer “Stonewall” Jackson and Virginia (Mellon) Jackson, April 6, 1949. She received a degree in education from Sangamon State College and later received a professional secretarial degree. She worked as a legal secretary and office administrator for several law firms in the St. Louis metro area. After retiring to Florida she became involved with many local organizations, including her local home association, where she served as President for many years.
She is survived by her loving husband of 46 years, Allan; son, Stephen (Tanya) of Maplewood, Mo.; daughter, Dayna (Jeanna) of Bloomington, Ill.; sister, Jan (Dennis) Morgan of Lake Ozark, Mo.; brother, Elmer “Skeets” (Nina) Jackson of Granite City, Ill.; grandchildren, Maya, Ian, Teagan, Cameron, and Quinn; nieces, Michele Morgan-Mohr and Kimberly Morgan-Mueller; as well as numerous dear friends in Central and Southern Illinois, and Sun City Center, Fla.
The family would like to extend their thanks to the medical staff of the Moffitt Cancer Center, Tampa General Hospital, Lifepath Hospice, and American Renal Dialysis Center for their special care and compassion over many years. Barbara will be interred at Marissa Township Cemetery in Marissa, Ill.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Clearwater Marine Aquarium, 249 Windward Passage, Clearwater, FL 33767 or the charity of your choosing in Barbara’s name. A celebration of life was held on Oct. 25.
