Robert W. Wolfe
March 23, 1932 – December 27, 2016
Robert W. Wolfe “Bob,” age 84, beloved husband and father passed away peacefully in his sleep at home on Dec. 27, 2016. Bob was born March 23, 1932 in Plymouth, Pa. and raised in Elizabeth/Elmora, N.J.
He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Christa Wolfe, two daughters Rita Anne (Richard) Van Dyke and Christina Leber; three grandchildren Tyler, Rachel, and Cindy; and by three great-grandchildren Kassie, Sunny and Amanda. He was preceded in death by his son Brad Wolfe.
He loved wrestling, starting in high school through college and then in the Army. He attended engineering school in Wilkes Barre, Pa. for two years before he was drafted. He served two years in the Army during the Korean conflict. He later received his Masters Degree in Civil Engineering from the Indiana Institute of Technology in Fort Wayne, Ind.
He worked as a civil engineer in Elizabeth and New Brunswick, N.J. He spent many years working in many overseas countries. He loved working overseas in places such as Vietnam, Thailand, Iran, Nigeria and London.
In 1977 while working in Lagos-Nigeria he met his love Christa. Once he left Nigeria he sought and found a job near Christa in Frankfurt, Germany. He got a job with the Army Corps of Engineers in Frankfurt, Germany as the chief of new-family housing in Europe where he stayed for 16 years.
He took retirement to move with his wife to Pennsylvania to care for his mother Margret who had Alzheimer’s. After living in Pennsylvania for seven years, Bob had a severe stroke. It was recommended that they move to Florida for health reasons. So in 2003 he and Christa moved to Sun City Center, Fla. so Bob could get better, and he did.
Memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 21, at Sun City Center Funeral Home, 1851 Rickenbacker Dr., Sun City Center, FL 33573.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Life Path Hospice Green Team, 3725 Upper Creek Drive, Ruskin, FL 33573.
