Dorothy Anne Mikulka, 86, of Peoria, Arizona, passed away on January 27, 2017, in her home following a brief illness.
She was preceded in death by her husband Richard Mikulka, her former husband Norman Taber, and her son Gregory Taber. She is survived by her daughters Cathy Knobloch of Arizona, Carol Czapienski of Massachusetts, and Theresa Fugardi of Connecticut, and seven grandchildren. She also leaves a sister Nancy Garren of New York as well as several nieces and nephews.
Born and raised in Union City, N.J., Dorothy raised her family in Rhinebeck, N.Y. while working for an insurance agency. Satisfying a lifelong love of travel, Dorothy and Dick spent their early retirement years traveling the country before settling in Sun City Center, Fla. There they served the community for several years, she as a paramedic, he as her ambulance driver. Following her husband’s death, Dorothy moved to Arizona to be with her daughter.
Dorothy was an avid crafter, who especially loved knitting, sewing, and quilting, winning several awards for her knitted sweaters.
She was well loved and will be greatly missed
A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, February 21, at the Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 702 Valley Forge Blvd. Sun City Center, Fla., followed by a private graveside service at the Florida National Cemetery.
