June C. Justino

June C. Justino, 84, formerly of Newark, N.Y. passed away on Sunday, March 5, 2017 at her home in Sun City Center, Fla. Her oldest son, Dan, was with her as she passed quietly. June was born in Newark, August 7, 1932, daughter of George and Rose Negus. She graduated Newark High School in 1951, and earned a certification as a Dental Hygienist from the Eastman School for Dental Hygienists, after which she worked as a hygienist, for Dr. Palecki, in Sodus.
On April 21, 1956, she married Dr. Joseph A. Justino of Lyons. Together, in 1961, June and Joe purchased a “drafty old barn of a house” at 120 Grant Street, Newark, which, over the next 20 years, June renovated into a welcome gathering place for family and friends, and a loving home for their sons. June, who inherited the “handy-man gene” from her father, George, did much of the work herself. June was a caring, generous and devoted wife and mother. Her generous spirit deeply touched the lives of not just her family members, but also the lives of her neighbors, her close personal friends, and so many of the friends of her children (who all spent a good portion of their youth “up in the Justino’s attic,” which she had renovated for just that purpose).
Later in life, June and Joe created equally loving second homes for themselves and their family in Sodus Point, N.Y. and Sun City Center, Fla. Sodus Point always held a special place in June’s heart and there she once again transformed her “little cottage” into a valued and welcoming gathering place for family and friends alike. The memories of the good times shared at 120 Grant Street and out “at the Point” continue to bring joy to so many, thanks to June and her giving nature.
June was preceded in death by her husband Joe and her brother, George Negus, Jr., of Binghamton, N.Y. Survivors include her siblings Delores Heffernan of Brentwood, Calif.; Thomas Negus of Liverpool, N.Y.; Elaine Kibble of Newark, N.Y.; and Charles Negus of Massena, N.Y.; her sons and their families, Dan Justino and Elizabeth Simoes of Seminole, Fla.; Stephen, Christine, Haley and Nicole Justino of Centennial, Colo.; Larry Justino of Koln, Germany; Jim Justino of Brooklyn, NY; and John, Hilary, Ian and Aidan Justino of Albany, N.Y.
A memorial gathering and burial in the Newark Cemetery, Newark, N.Y., will be in the late spring or summer 2017. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of June to the LifePath Hospice, 3725 Upper Creek Drive, Sun City Center, Fla. 33573 (lifepathhospice.chaptershealth.org/GeneralDonation). He was pre-deceased by his parents Richard and Martha Love, and daughter-in-law MiKeila Love. Survived by his wife, Pamela W. Love and their son, Shelby Love. He also leaves behind Richard (Illy) Love, Beth Moore Love, Christopher (Lindsey) Love, Andrew Love and their mother, Sara Lane. Grandchildren are Hunter, Austin, Brandon, Peyton, Eli, Asher and Avery Love.
Richard retired from IBM after 44 years. He served as a Deacon at Immanuel Lutheran in Brandon, Fla. and was a current member of Calvary Lutheran, Apollo Beach Fla. He was a Charter Member, Parade Master and President of The Krewe of South Shore Marauders.
Funeral Service was held Wednesday, March 15, from noon to 2 p.m., at Bridges Funeral Home, 5430 Rutledge Pike, Knoxville, Tenn., followed by a graveside service at Greenwood Cemetery, 3500 Tazewell Pike Knoxville, Tenn. Arrangements by Sun City Center Funeral Home, Sun City Center, Fla.
