Andries “Andy” Oosthuizen, 71, born in South Africa, died on Monday, April 24, 2017 at LifePath Hospice after a brief illness at home in Sun City Center.
Andy was a playwright, actor, teacher, director and producer in New York, New Jersey and Florida theater. He was best known as a humanitarian with many world-wide awards from charitable organizations over the span of more than 30 years. They Included a Human Rights Award from Brandeis University in which his name appears in every <i>Learned Research Journal </i>bookplate acquired by the university libraries, as well as tributes from New Jersey Law Enforcement, New Jersey Special Olympics, and local and civic New Jersey and Florida charitable organizations.
He is survived by family and friends whose lives have been greatly enriched by having known him. They were as happy as he was when he became a citizen of the United States of America last year.
