Wanda L. Burch
August 13, 1948 – January 6, 2018
Wanda Louise Burch, at age 91, passed to her place prepared for her by her Savior, Jesus. Wanda left us on January 6. She is survived by her husband Carl, daughters, Mrs. Susan Windle and Mrs. Joanne Walden, and son, John Burch and their spouses.
She was also loved by eight grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held in Michigan in March. Wanda was an instructor in business at Washtenaw Community College in Michigan. She came to Sun City Center in 1994, residing in Villas on the Green. She was an active golfer, quilter and cared for her flowerbeds and her friends.
<h3><strong>Ronald R. Dixon Sr.</strong></h3>
Ronald Ray Dixon Sr., age 69, of Bel Air, Maryland peacefully went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 6, 2018 after courageously battling cancer. He was surrounded by his loving family. Born on August 13, 1948 in Fountain Green, Maryland, Ronald was a U.S. Army and U.S. National Guard veteran. He retired from Baltimore Gas and Electric after a 32-year career. After retiring and moving to Sun City Center, Florida, he greatly loved the Lord, reading God’s Word, and was gifted serving others as a deacon in his church, First Baptist Church of Gibsonton.
He loved to travel with his wife Susan in their R.V. with their poodle Sparky, fish, manicure his lawn and shine his car. He was known for his variety of skills and abilities to fix anything. Ronald is survived by his best friend and wife of 48 years, Susan Jane Dixon; son, Ronald Ray Dixon Jr. and his wife Heather O’Brien Dixon; son, Dr. Richard Enock Dixon and his wife Kathleen Jeannette Dixon; grandchildren, (children of Ronald & Heather) Caitlin Anne Dixon and Connor McLean Dixon. Sister, Edith M. Coale; brother, Roger Lee Dixon and wife Mary Elizabeth Dixon and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his father Rev. Willard P. Dixon, his mother Leva M. Dixon, and his brother Robert P. Dixon. A celebration of Ronald’s life was held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at the First Baptist Church of Gibsonton, 9912 Indiana Street, Gibsonton, FL 33534. Gladys Martha Slack of Lake City, Mich. passed away Monday, December 11, 2017. She was 85 years old. She was born October 7, 1932, to Arthur and Martha (Schury) Loesel in Richville, Mich. She was married to Walter Slack on June 13, 1953, in Richville, Mich.
Gladys was a nurse in pediatrics and surgical-care for St. Lukes Hospital in Saginaw for many years. They attended Peace Lutheran Church in Saginaw and later attended Emmanuel Lutheran Church in
Cadillac. She had a great passion for gardening and also enjoyed reading, sewing, attending theater shows, traveling with her husband, and spending time with her grandchildren and family.
She is survived by their children, Gail (Bruce) Bordt of Milford, Mich; Thomas (Maura) Slack, of Portage, Mich; Ann (Kevin) Kitchin of Dallas, Texas; daughter-in-law, Mary Slack of Beaverton, Mich; 12 grandchildren, Diane (Rob), Jason (Meghan), Daniel (Christine), Karen, Ryan (Alex), Ross, Spencer, Matthew, Mariah, Alina, Benjamin and Jonathan; and one great-grandchild, Eloise. Gladys is also survived by her sister, Doris Dale, Mt. Pleasant, Mich. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and a son, James Slack, PhD.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. on Saturday, January 20, 2018, at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Cadillac, Mich. with Rev. Joel Hess officiating.
