Iona Mathias

&nbsp;&nbsp; Iona A. Mathias, 95, passed away June 3, 2010.&nbsp; She was born January 19, 1915 in Everly, Iowa.&nbsp; Iona and her late husband of 62 years, Dr. Charles M. Mathias, lived in Niles and Warren, Ohio, before retiring to Sun City Center.&nbsp; She is survived by nieces and nephews.<br />&nbsp;&nbsp; Iona attended the University of Iowa Business College and worked with the US Government as a legal secretary before her marriage to Dr. Mathias.&nbsp; She also was a volunteer for 15 years with Meals on Wheels, for 30 years with the American Red Cross and for 20 years as a Girl Scout leader. &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Doctor and Mrs. Mathias enjoyed traveling and especially their historic globe-circling adventure via the private chartered Supersonic Concorde.<br />&nbsp;&nbsp; A memorial service will be held at 10:00 am. Monday, June 28, 2010 at Freedom Plaza, Sun City Center, FL.<br />&nbsp;&nbsp; Interment will be at the Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Florida.<br />&nbsp;&nbsp; Memorials can be made to the American Red Cross, American Cancer Society, or LifePath Hospice Sun City Center in lieu of flowers.
