E. George Simmons Jr.
E. George Simmons Jr. passed away peacefully on April 24 at the age of 81. George was born and raised in South Hillsborough County, a lifetime resident. He enjoyed a successful 30-year career with Hillsborough County in the roads, land acquisition and county parks departments. As a south county farmer and entrepreneur, George managed a variety of businesses including: Simmons Farm and Ranch, G&E Cattle Company and CHMIKE catering.<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span>
George was involved in many charitable endeavors: Brandon Rotary Club, The Sandy and George Simmons Family Boys and Girls Club of Riverview and the YMCA. Through the Mable and Ellsworth Simmons Charitable Foundation, George and Family touched many lives in South Hillsborough County.<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span>
George was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, boating and fishing. He was an RV enthusiast, taking many trips across the U.S. and through the national parks. He was also a Tampa Bay Buccaneers fan, a season ticket holder since their inaugural season.<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span>
George was preceded in death by his wife Sandy to whom he was married for 35 years. He was also preceded by his father Ellsworth George Simmons Sr., his mother Carolyn Eason Simmons and his sister Jean Simmons. George was a devoted family man and is survived by his children, step-children and their spouses; Cheryl (Jeff) Redford, Michelle (Pete) Henry, Kelle (David) Frustaci, Richard (Denise) D'Alessandro, Michael D'Alessandro (George Marie), Christine (Allan) Hogan; 14 grandchildren and their spouses, Courtney (Eric) Cubero, Derin (Warren) Garrison, Nicole Henry, Michael Frustaci (Brittany Davis), Danielle Frustaci, Joey D'Alessandro, Zachary D'Alessandro, Brett Smith, Brittney Smith, Sophia Huber, Henry Huber, Emile D'Alessandro, Bo Hogan and Alanna Hogan; six great-grandchildren, Cameron Cubero, Cayson Lewellyn, Mason Smith, Nolan Smith, Gio Smith and Jordan Smith and many nephews, nieces and cousins. <span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span>
