Karen Haegert
August 13, 1937 –
Karen Haegert went to the arms of her Savior on Saturday, July 21, in her home at Aston Gardens. Karen was born on August 13, 1937, in Oak Park, Illinois, to Carl and Betty Alver. She grew up in the Chicago area where she attended Judson Baptist Church. She trusted Christ as her Savior at an early age and was active in AWANA during her childhood.<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span>
She attended college at North Central College in Naperville, Illinois, where she met the love of her life Daniel Haegert. She and Daniel were both very active in InterVarsity Christian Fellowship on the campus. They were married on June 9, 1956. They moved to Kansas where their daughter Laura was born and moved to Michigan where son Stan was born. They had lived in Sun City Center, Florida, for the past 10 years since moving there from Springdale, Arkansas.
Karen graduated from the University of Michigan with a teaching degree and did some substitute teaching. She loved to sing, and she loved her church family at First Baptist Church of Ruskin. She was an excellent cook, mother and wife, and she loved her family. Most of all she loved the Lord Jesus and is now enjoying His presence.
She is survived by her husband Daniel; her daughter Laura (Andy) Grenier; son Stan (Deb) Haegert; five grandchildren and two great-grandsons. She was preceded in death by her parents Carl and Betty Alver and sister Lynn McEvoy.
There will be a memorial service for Karen on Thursday, August 30, at 1 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Ruskin, 820 College Ave., Ruskin, FL 33570.
