Shirley Brubaker (Patty), at age 84, surrendered to ovarian cancer and passed away peacefully on October 6, 2018, at her home in Sun City Center.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father Sylvia and Leonard Patty; stepmother Anna Patty and sister Thelma Miller (Schultz) of Pleasant Hill, Ohio.
Shirley will be missed and remembered by her loving husband of 64 years H. James “Jim” Brubaker; daughters Jackie (Ron) Andrews of St. Pete Beach, Fla. and Jane (Garry) Marquiss of Solon, Ohio; grandchildren Chris Marquiss and Annie Marquiss; and her nephew, John Schultz of Pleasant Hill, Ohio. <span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span>
Shirley attended Miami and Wright State universities earning a bachelor of science in education. She was a math teacher for 30 years in Tipp City, Ohio. She made the move to Sun City Center in 1997 to be with family, good friends and warm weather. <span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span>
A service will be held in the Auditorium at Freedom Plaza main building in Sun City Center at 10 a.m. Thursday, November 8. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made in Shirley’s name to the American Cancer Society or Alzheimer’s research.
