Katherine Ann Poag Mello, born in Granite City, Illinois on May 20, 1937, died peacefully in her home on October 27, 2018, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. She was preceded in death by her husband Abel Mello. Survivors include: Her seven children, Kim Scudera, Carolyn Mello, James Mello, Peter Mello, Kathleen Powell, Susan Mello, Peggy Mello; her sister Mary Maggi; her brother James Poag; 15 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span>
She is remembered with great love and respect by her family and by her legions of friends, fellow quilters, neighbors and co-workers. She will be terribly missed. A private memorial service will be held in Sun City Center, Fla., www.suncitycenterfuneralhome.com
