Claudina Moger

June 23, 1923 –

Claudina Moger
Claudina Moger died peacefully on Saturday, May 11, surrounded by her family. A long-time resident of Freedom Plaza at Sun City Center; Key Biscayne, Florida; and Brooklyn Heights, New York, Claudina was born in Victoria de las Tunas, Cuba, on June 23, 1923. She graduated from dental school in Havana, Cuba, in July 1944, at the age of 21 and, subsequently, moved to the United States where she lived for over 70 years.

She was a lifelong student, obtaining a Bachelors degree from the University of Miami followed by a second dental degree at New York University College of Dentistry in 1963. She was one of only five women in her graduating class. She practiced dentistry to undeserved communities in lower Manhattan and also taught at NYU College of Dentistry.

Claudina travelled widely throughout the world and found adventure at every stage of her life. She is the last of four Fernandez Aguilar children born in Cuba and is survived by her sons, Byron and Adrian, and their children. Claudina will always be remembered as a brilliant conversationalist and for her wonderful smile.

There will be a Mass at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 702 Valley Forge Blvd., Sun City Center, July 11 at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Prince of Peace Catholic.
