Dorothy J. Ambill
Dorothy June Ambill passed from this life on September 20, 2019. She was born in London, England. During World War II she served as an air raid warden. She married Harry Ambill, an American GI who was stationed at SHAEF Headquarters in London in 1945 and arrived in the United States aboard the Queen Mary in 1946 as an English war bride.
Dorothy made her home in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, for the next 36 years and raised her family there. She was employed at Brookline Bank for 20 years. She was a talented seamstress and gardener. Dorothy and Harry retired to Sun City Center, Fla. in 1982. Dottie worked as a receptionist for Kings Point Real Estate and enjoyed golf and all the community activities that the area offered. She was a member of the South Shore United Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her mother Kino Groves and her beloved husband Harry; her brother and sister-in-law, James and Lillian Ambill; her nephew Bradley Ambill and niece Denielle Davis. She is survived by her daughters Margo Fritsch and Monica Harris; her sons-in-law, Chuck Fritsch and Kevin Harris; her nephew, Mark Ambill; her grandchildren: Reagan Swann, Sara Salvatore, Chad Harris and Reed Harris; and her great-grandchildren: Alex, Rocco, Ellison, Luciana, Eliana, Mossimo and Montgomery.
