Betty Jane Brown

Betty Jane Brown, 93, transitioned to the embrace of God on Sunday, October 6, at Homewood Residence in Sun City Center, surrounded by the love of her husband, Emery “Brownie” Brown, and family.
Betty was born on April 10, 1926, to Rhoda and Walter Reis, Sr. (both deceased). She was raised in East Bangor, PA, and married Clarence R. Ackerman (deceased), with whom she lived on a dairy farm, which they owned/operated near Bangor, PA. In 1972, they moved to Sarasota, FL, and later to Sun City Center.
Betty is survived by her children: Diane Ryan (husband, John Ryan), Greesboro, NC, and Estero, FL; Richard Ackerman (wife, Debbie Houston-Schrenzel), Horsham, PA; Van Ackerman, Cincinnati, OH; and Ted Ackerman (wife, Meeyoung Ackerman), Harrington Park, NJ; her sister, Mary MacCabe, NJ; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Susan Jane Ackerman; brother, Walter Reis, Jr.; and sisters: Marilyn Dutt and June Ettinger.
Betty cherished her beloved husband Brownie and enjoyed music, dancing, exercise, reading and playing cards.
A private memorial service for immediate family is being planned for a later date at the United Methodist Church of Sun City Center.
