Nelson Grimm
March 22, 1922 – March 18, 2020
Nelson Grimm, age 97, passed away on March 18, 2020, at his home in Ocala, Florida.
Nelson was born on March 22, 1922, in Cleveland, Ohio, to Gertrude and Leo Grimm.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as an airplane mechanic. He married the love of his life, Ida Sorkin, on June 10, 1945.
Nelson received a degree in chemical engineering from Cleveland State and worked for General Electric, Lamp Division, for 40 years. At GE, he was responsible for the company’s obtaining numerous patents.
Upon retirement, Ida and Nelson moved to St. Petersburg, Florida, where Nelson became a member of the Coast Guard auxiliary.
Later, they moved to Sun Center City, Florida, and became members of Beth Israel.
Nelson is survived by his wife of 74 years, Ida; their children, O. Steven Grimm and Beverly Grimm (Ronald Wiggins); grandsons: David Grimm (Amy Duffield), Jeffrey Grimm (Abra Faraon) and Jonathan Grimm; and four great- grandchildren.
Memorial services will not be held at this time.
