John H. MacPhee
John H. MacPhee, 96, of Sun City Center, FL, passed peacefully at home on Dec. 25, 2020, after a long illness.

Born in Boston, MA, he was a veteran of WWII. He was in the first wave on D-Day on Omaha Beach, Normandy, on June 6, 1944, with the 1st Infantry Division, the Big Red One. He was awarded a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star with Cluster for wounds received during the invasion.

John retired from the United States Postal Service in Yarmouth, MA. He also was an active lifetime member of the American Legion and served as the commander of Post 197.

John was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed gardening, especially roses. He would often be seen at the various dance clubs, if not at home reading or traveling.

He was loved by and will be greatly missed by his wife Cheryl; daughter, Judith Matson and husband Stephen of Mashpee, MA; son, John MacPhee and wife Deborah of Yarmouth, MA; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. John was predeceased by his first wife, Doris Connors MacPhee.

Services will take place at a later date at the National Cemetery, Cape Cod, MA.
