James Warren Cronn

</span><br />James Warren Cronn, 92, of Sun City Center, Florida formerly of West Hempstead, NY died peacefully Monday evening April 11, 2011 with Alice, his loving wife of 64 years, and his son by his side. He is survived by his wife, Alice (Franzmeier), sons Jim Jr. (Katherine) and Jack (Barbara), and grandchildren Patrick, Kenneth, and Samantha; also, a sister, Marguerite Sherwood as well as nieces, nephews and great friends and neighbors of many years.</p>
<p>Jim was born in Brooklyn, New York to Albert Eugene and Grace Hearon Cronn. He was an alumnus of Chaminade Parochial High School. He was a B-25 pilot with the 38th bomb group during World War II flying combat missions in the South Pacific. It was during this time in New Guinea where he met the lovely Army nurse who would become his wife. He also saw active duty in Korea and was a member of the United States Air Force reserves retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel. He worked for the New York Telephone Co. for 33 years in many positions including a lineman, installer, cable splicer and finally as a management supervisor.</p>
<p>Since 1980 Jim and Alice lived their happy retirement years in Sun City Center. Jim loved to golf and operate CW DX ham radio as W2GC. He was a charter member of the Caloosa Golf and Country Club as well as the amateur radio club and the computer club. He loved to talk over golf, computers and amateur radio operation with his sons. Until recently Jim and Alice summered in Alice’s hometown of Two Rivers, Wisconsin where they enjoyed their many relatives and friends.</p>
<p>Jim was parishioner of Prince of Peace Roman Catholic Church, as well as a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America, life member of ARRL, Elks Lodge 1380 and lifetime member of Knights of Columbus Council 7282.<br />In lieu of flowers or gifts please consider donations to the Sun City Center Emergency Squad.</p>
<p>Funeral mass was held on Friday April 15 at 11:00 a.m. at Prince of Peace Roman Catholic Church in Sun City Center with a reception following in the Conesa Center.</p>
