Mervyn Magruder Jenkins

</span><br />Mr. Mervyn Magruder Jenkins, age 90, died on Thursday May 5, 2011 at the Ogeechee Area Hospice Inpatient Facility. The El Paso Texas native was the son of Albert Patrick and Ella Maude Magruder Jenkins. He was a graduate of Texas A & M University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Mr. Jenkins was a veteran of the U. S. Army having served in World War II stateside and the Pacific theater. Mr. Jenkins retired from Owens-Illinois Company after 35 years of service where he managed plants in Atlanta, Clarion, PA, and Winston Salem, NC. He and his wife retired to Sun City Center FL in 1980 and he served as a volunteer fireman and was a member of the Trinity Baptist Church and served as a deacon for many years. In 2002 they moved to Statesboro to be near their family and he became a member of the First Baptist Church of Statesboro and the Harmony-Fellowship Sunday School Class. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 61 years Mary Ida “Mickey” Jenkins, and a daughter Jan Lennon Jenkins.</p>
<p>Surviving are three daughters and sons-in-law; Cheryl and David Taylor of Greensboro, GA, Judy and Clyde Redding of Statesboro, and Terri and Wayne DeLoach of Statesboro; a brother and sister-in-law Samuel and Nancy Jenkins of El Paso TX; 10 grandchildren Thad (Debbie) Pruett, Ken Pruett, Shaun Pruett, Jamie (Alan) Hargett, Chris Zofko, Angie (Mike) Kelly, Kasey (Brent) Davis, Janna (Buck) Pennington, Lindsey (Brian) Jones and Michael DeLoach; seven great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.</p>
<p>The visitation will be held on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church.</p>
<p>The funeral service will be held on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church with Dr. H. William Perry officiating. Interment will be in Bulloch Memorial Gardens.<br /> Pallbearers will be grandsons and Ernie Kahn.</p>
<p>Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the Harmony-Fellowship Sunday School Class.</p>
<p>The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the First Baptist Church 108 North Main Street, Statesboro, GA 30458 or to the Ogeechee Area Hospice, P.O. Box 531 Statesboro, GA 30459.</p>
