James William Thompson

</span><br />James “Jim” W. Thompson, 87, went home to be with our Lord May 22, in Sun City Center, Florida. Born in Pittsburgh, Pa, Jim lived in Monroeville until 1975 when he transferred with Westinghouse to Tampa, then to Saudi Arabia. He retired after 43 years from Westinghouse in 1984.</p>
<p>Jim is preceded to heaven by his wife Ann of 66 years. Ann recently passed away August 29, 2010. He is survived by 3 children; Sally Evans, Suzy and husband Lee Wilson of Jacksonville, son James (Jim) and wife Beth Thompson of Blue Ridge, Georgia, six cherished grandchildren, Bryan and Susan Evans, Sarah and Rebekah Wilson, Kaitie and Karly Thompson and a sister and brother-in-law Lillian and Fred Parke of Plum Boro, Pa.</p>
<p>After retiring Jim and Ann moved to Sun City Center in 1984 and became active in the community. Jim joined the Security Patrol and had over 25 year’s service, 3 as Captain. He served on the board of Acacia Home Owners and was president of the East Lake Association.</p>
<p>Currently a member of St Andrews Presbyterian Church, Jim was very active in church. Serving as an elder 9 years at Bethel Presbyterian in Monroeville and 3 year at Forest Hills Presbyterian in Tampa and United Methodist Church of Sun City Center.</p>
<p>Jim became a Mason 56 years ago and was a Shriner for 49 years. He was a past President of the Sun City Shrine Club, lead the Marching Patrol for 10 years, headed up the kitchen for the Shriners pancake brunch for 10 years and the dining room for the next 10.</p>
<p>Jim was an avid golfer after moving to Sun City Center and played the game he loved for 23yrs. He and Ann loved to entertain and he had a winning laugh especially when beating his children and grandchildren at cards saying “the old man still has what it takes!”</p>
<p>Friends and family are invited to attend a celebration of life memorial service on Sunday, June 5, 2011 at 2:00 at St Andrew Presbyterian Church, 1239 Del Webb Blvd West, Sun City Center, Florida 33573.
