Robert Nelson Spangard
</span><br />Robert Nelson Spangard, 90, of Sun City Center, passed away June 7. Bob was born in Crystal Lake, Illinois, and worked as a buyer at a major utility company in Chicago. He retired to Florida in 1984, where he could enjoy his passion for golfing year-round. Bob was co-chairman of the Lancaster Recreation Association with his wife, Genevieve, for 10 years. They traveled widely to Europe, Alaska, with frequent trips to Illinois, North Carolina, and Minnesota to visit family and their many friends. Bob proudly served as Sergeant in the Army in Europe during World War II from 1942-1945.</p>
<p>Bob was preceded in death by his wife Genevieve with whom he celebrated 66 years of marriage. He is survived by his son, Robert Spangard and wife Evelyn; his two daughters, Susan and husband Bill McLaughlin, and Kristine Spangard; five grandchildren, Matthew (and wife Lori), Angela, Bill (and wife Ashleigh), Katrina, and Nicholas, and five great-grandchildren, Austin, Brendan, Kaedyn, Alexis, and Simon. He was a devoted husband, loving father, and adoring grandfather.</p>
<p>Friends and family are invited to attend a Celebration of Life memorial service to be held at King’s Point Clubhouse on Saturday, June 18, 2011, at 12 noon. A light lunch will be served at noon followed by the service.
