Robert “Bob” Charles Bagley, 83, of Sun City Center, Florida, passed away peacefully on August 1, 2026, surrounded by loved ones. He is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Eileen McNamara Bagley.
Bob was born on March 11, 1943, in Peabody, Massachusetts, to Sophie Jean Romanovitz Bagley and Charles Gilbert Bagley. He attended St. John’s Grammar School in Peabody and graduated from St. John’s Preparatory School in Danvers, Massachusetts. In 1965, he earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Lowell Technical Institute, now the University of Massachusetts Lowell, where he was a member of Phi Psi Fraternity.
Bob spent his career as an architectural engineer, beginning with International Paper and later working for Shell Oil Company. He then spent two decades with Marriott Corporation.
Bob and Eileen made their home in Rockville, Maryland, and spent many happy summers at their home on Deep Creek Lake in western Maryland. His lifelong love of the water began during childhood summers at his parents’ home on Sokokis Lake in Limerick, Maine. There, he co-founded the Sokokis Lake Water Ski Team with his siblings and friends; as well as the lake’s first water ski show 70 years ago.
Bob enjoyed downhill skiing, especially in the mountains of Park City, Utah. He also loved driving his Corvette and was a longtime member of the Corvette Club of Sun City Center.
Dedicated to his community, Bob generously gave his time as a volunteer. He served as president of both the Renaissance Homeowners Association and the Sun City Center Dog Park. He was also a member of the Sun City Center Security Patrol.
In addition to his wife, Eileen, Bob is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Roy Walter and Bonnie Bagley of Limerick, Maine, and Sun City Center, Florida; his sister, Dianne Jean Bagley Smith of Peabody, Massachusetts; and his brothers- and sisters-in-law, Thomas and Alison McNamara, Christopher and Amy McNamara and Kevin McNamara.
He is also survived by many beloved nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews throughout the country, as well as his faithful companion and best friend, Molly.
A private service of remembrance will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Bob’s memory to the Melanoma Research Foundation.
Bob will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his family, friends and all whose lives he touched.
