Jo-Anne “Jody” Masterson, 78, of Sun City Center, Florida, passed away peacefully on August 7, 2026. Born on October 11, 1947, in Poughkeepsie, New York, she was the daughter of Richard and Margaret Pierson. Jody graduated from SUNY New Paltz with a masters in education. She was a first grade teacher for most of her 34 years in primary schools in New York State.
Jody and husband Pat retired to Sun City Center in 2007. She enjoyed many activities there. She was president of the Time Steppers tap club, treasurer of the Kayak club and a geneologist for the D.A.R. Jody also was active in Jazzmatazz and yoga classes. One of her favorite pastimes was riding trains at the Florida Railroad Museum every weekend, where she was a dedicated member.
Jody was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her beloved husband of 54 years, Pat; her son, Michael; and sister Susan.
