Louise Adele Hachen, age 99, went home to be with the Lord on September 2, 2026 in Apollo Beach, Florida. She was joyfully reunited with the love of her life and late husband, John Allan Gross Hachen, on the date of their 76th wedding anniversary. We rest in the knowledge that they are once again hand-in-hand, united with one another and with our Savior and Lord.
Adele was born August 8, 1927, in Cleveland, Ohio, a daughter of the late James and Ardis Skuse. She attended Orange High School in Pepper Pike, Ohio, where she first met Jack Hachen, who caught her eye as a ninth grader, years before their paths would cross again. Adele then attended Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri, where she received a degree in Early Childhood Education and then taught preschool at the National Child Research Center in Washington, D.C.
Adele returned to Ohio where she was reacquainted with Jack. She was the only girl he ever asked out. The pair quickly fell in love, embarking on a lifetime of devotion, companionship and enduring romance. Jack and Adele were married on September 2, 1950, in Chagrin Falls, Ohio. Their three oldest children, Alison, Dan and Ardis, were born in Columbus, Ohio, before the family took a leap of faith and adventure, relocating to Golden, Colorado. Their youngest sons, Grant and Brian, were later born in Colorado. Her family was her greatest delight.
A pivotal moment in Adele’s life was her acceptance of Jesus as her Lord and Savior in 1971; a date she celebrated as a spiritual re-birthday for years to come. Adele’s faith was evident, unchanging through both the tragic and triumphant chapters of her life. She could often be found reading and memorizing scripture in the early morning, singing songs of worship or sharing the good news of the gospel with friends and strangers alike. Adele leaves behind an undeniable legacy of faith and love.
Adele relished fellowship with family and friends. She was a hostess extraordinaire, often planning and hosting elaborate tea parties, themed parties or thoughtful get togethers No detail was overlooked, with each gathering featuring homemade treats, thoughtful party favors and beautiful decor. One of Adele’s favorite pastimes was frequenting antique stores and thrift shops, collecting meaningful treasures that brought character and charm to her home and making each gathering uniquely her own.
Jack and Adele moved to Apollo Beach, Florida, in 2006, where they enjoyed a treasured community in Southshore Falls. Here they enjoyed days filled with sunshine, bocce ball, walks to the gym and newfound friendships.
In addition to her parents and beloved sister, Adele is preceded in death by her adoring husband, Jack Hachen, her son-in-law, Leon Koehn, and her sister, Betty Thompson. Adele is survived by her loving family including five children: Alison (Mike) Russell, Dan (Joyce) Hachen, Ardis Koehn, Grant (Megan) Hachen & Brian (Janie) Hachen; 10 grandchildren: Lannea (Nathan) Hand, David (Trisha) Koehn, Brandon Russell, Adam (Monica) Koehn, Katie (TJ) Henning, Blake Hachen, Kayla Hachen, Trevor Hachen, Makenna Hachen & Saylor Hachen; and four great-grandchildren: Ellie Koehn, Evan & Luke Hand & Scottie Henning.
In lieu of flowers, the family would be grateful for donations made to LifePath Hospice at 11150 North 53rd Street, Temple Terrace, FL 33617, 813-871-8444.
