Phyllis J. Sukalec

</span><br />Phyllis Sukalec of Sun City Center, FL, died Feb. 11, 2012. Phyllis was born July 10, 1923 in Joliet, IL and at the age of 10 moved to Chicago, IL. Phyllis was a dancer and began her dance training at the age of 6 studying ballet, jazz, tap and toe dancing. In the 1940s she worked with many vaudeville greats such as Donald O&rsquo;Connor, Virginia Mayo and Jimmy Durante. During WWII she toured with USO shows entertaining the troops. Her last professional date was in 1946 at the Capital Theatre in Washington D.C. working on a Perry Como show. After vaudeville Phyllis spent the next 15 years teaching children to dance at her own school in Chicago. After her marriage to John Sukalec in 1965 she closed her school and worked at the 1st National Bank of Chicago for 17 years.&nbsp; After retiring from the bank and moving to Sun City Center in 1987 she was recruited into producing and directing a variety of shows for the Sun City Center Follies.</p>
<p>Phyllis is predeceased by her parents Steve and Philomena (nee Zuro) and her sister, Ann DeKanic. Survivors include husband, John Sukalec; sister-in-law, Rose Sukalec of Illinois, brother-in-law, James DeKanic of Illinois, and seven nieces, Judy Knieriem of St. Petersburg, FL, Ann Paleczny of Las Vegas, NV, Joanne McInerney of Lombard, IL, and Roseann Blythe, Kathy Walters, Nancy Cairn and Linda Broszka all of Illinois.</p>
