Edward N. Lucking
October 13, 1918 –
</span><br />Edward N. Lucking was born in Detroit, Michigan to Mary Ellen and Henry Lucking on October 13, 1918. Following graduation from Visitation High School, he attended University of Detroit and graduated Magna Cum Laude in June 1939.</p>
<p>He received a shcolarship to attend Harvard University School of Business Administration and with waiting tables and borrowing from the University, he graduated in june 1941.</p>
<p>After a short time in the war industry in Detroit, he enlisted as an Ensign in the U.S. Navy. he served as disbursing officer with expenditures fo $1,000,000 monthly to Navy personnel in Hawaii.</p>
<p>His post war assignment was a a contract termination officer with responsibilities for settling 700 production contracts held by 100 manufacturers. He retired from the U.S. Navy in the mid 60’s as a First Lieutenant.</p>
<p>He was a professor of Management and Personnel at the University of Missouri and later at Aquinas College in Grand Rapids, Michigan.</p>
<p>In 1976 he established his on business in the oil and gas business.</p>
<p>He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Dan. He is survived by his loving wife, Elsie. He was the father of Edward, wife Cindy; Nora Retter; and Kate, husband Keith; and stepfather of Jeffrey, wife Karen; and of Jay, wife Kim. he is grandfather of 12: Stephen and Daniel Lucking; Michael and Matthew Retter, Thomas and Dylan Brown, Jennifer and Joyce Johnson, Keith and Craig Johnson, ( Twins), and Quilan and Lukas Johnson.</p>
<p>Ed and Elsie retired in 1982 and moved to Venice, Florida. They traveled throughout the United States and Europe. Taking numerous cruises and attended 16 Elderhostels. They were involved in numerous responsibilities in the communities where they resided.</p>
<p>In 200 they made their home in Aston Gardens North, Sun City Center.</p>
<p>Edward was a member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church.</p>
