Florence Jeanette Armstrong, 89, died November 24, 2012 at her home in Exeter, New Hampshire. She was born in Vanceboro, Maine, July 11, 1923, daughter of Stillman Armstrong (Perth, N. B., Canada) and Adele M. Levesque Armstrong (Fort Fairfield, ME) of Vanceboro, Maine.</p>
<p>She attended schools in Vanceboro, Maine and graduated from the University of Maine in Orono in 1945 with a B.A. in sociology While at the University of Maine, Florence was president of All Maine Women, president of Off-Campus Women, member of the Athletic Council, and Women’s Student Government Association.</p>
<p>For 30 years, Florence worked for New England Telephone on Franklin Street in Boston, Massachusetts. After retiring, she lived in Farmington, Maine and Sun City Center, Florida. Florence was an avid golfer, Maine state champion tennis player, badminton player and archer.</p>
<p>She is pre-deceased by eight sisters, Mrs. Shirley E. Beal, Lexington, MA; Mrs. Marion E. Reid, Wellesley, MA; Mrs. Elizabeth Low, Rochester, NY; Mrs. Norma Cail, Weston, MA; Mrs. Alice McCord, Moorestown, NJ; Mrs. Louise Prescott, Farmington, ME; Miss Margaret Armstrong, Farmington, ME; and Miss Pauline Armstrong, Vanceboro, ME; three brothers, Vose L. Armstrong, Calias, ME; Herman F. Armstrong, Lynn, MA; and John F. Armstrong, McAdam, N. B., Canada. She is survived by 11 nieces and 8 nephews and pre-deceased by one niece.</p>
<p>A memorial service will be held in Exeter, on Sunday, December 2 at 11:30 a.m. at the Brewitt Funeral Home, 14 Pine Street.</p>
<p>In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the American Heart Association, P. O. Box 3049, Syracuse, NY 13220-3049.</p>
