Douglas K. Hiltz Sr. of Sun City Center, FL passed away November 21, 2012 of natural causes at age 93.</p>
<p>Born August 15, 1919 in Martin’s River, Nova Scotia, Canada. Doug is survived by his wife Eileen (Butler) Hiltz; they were married 62 years. Also survived by his daughter Alice Marie (Hiltz) Safara, son-in-law Paul J. Safara of Valrico, Florida; his son Dr. Douglas K. Hiltz Jr. and daughter-in-law Vera (Enjedi) Hiltz of Southport, North Carolina; five grandchildren, Kristen N. Safara, Paul J. Safara Jr., Tanya (Hiltz) Hogue and husband David Hogue, Natasha Hiltz, Douglas K. Hiltz III and wife Elinor (Almeida) Hiltz. Doug is survived by one great-grandchild, Johnny Douglas Hiltz.<br />
Douglas Hiltz Sr. was a veteran of the Canadian Royal Air force with six years of service. The family extends special thanks to Dr. Donald Behnke, Dr. Suketu Shaw, Dr. Susan Stonerock, and Nurse Practioner Valerie Fortunato for their exceptional compassionate and professional care.</p>
<p>A viewing was held on November 26, 2012 at the Sun City Center Funeral Home, followed by an 11 a.m. mass at the Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Sun City Center. Internment will be at the Calvary Catholic Cemetery, 5233 118th Avenue N. in Clearwater. Arrangements by Sun City Center Funeral Home.</p>
