Beatrice V. Conover

<p>On a soft spring evening when the world was forty shades of green, the immortal soul of Beatrice V. Conover went home. For almost 93 years, until April 17, 2013, she made the world a better place. She held the most important job in the world — mother — and never missed a day. </p>
<p>Bea inherited her mother’s sparkling Irish wit and love of dance, and so God rewarded her in His way and for over 50 years she endured the cantankerous Calvinism of a husband with two left feet. Her sons teased her unmercifully, so fierce was their mute love, and the depth of bond between herself and her daughter was bigger than the world. </p>
<p>The great joy of her old age was her grandchildren and, while she always professed faith in immortality — good Catholic girl that she was — in them she saw it made truth every day. She was the cement that held together a family of extreme personalities.</p>
<p>Bea remained convinced to the end that chocolate was a major food group and ice cream an essential vegetable. So now, she’s gone to be with her father Alfred L. and mother Rachel Kelly Baldwin, her brothers Jack, Alfred, and Phil, her sister Gladys, and her husband Clarence and son Terry. </p>
<p>She is survived by her sisters Tess and Janet Wassum; her daughter Barbara and grandchildren Abby and Erin Martin; her sons Tom and Harold and daughter-in-law Mary Dunn. Even now, they’re tuning up the fiddles in Heaven, and she’ll wait for you all at the dance.</p>
<p>The memorial service was 1 p.m. on April 24, 2013 at Saint Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Greensboro, NC. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Greensboro, 2500 Summit Ave., Greensboro, NC 27405.</p>
