Iola R. Turner

<br /><strong>July 4, 1911 - May 5, 2013</strong></p>
<p>Iola R. Turner, 101, formerly of Martinsburg, PA, passed away at her daughter&rsquo;s home in Sun City Center, FL, where Iola was currently residing.</p>
<p>She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Arthur and May (Smith) Paul. She married Gerald S. Turner on May 5, 1934. He preceded her in death on May 4, 1974.</p>
<p>Surviving are daughter Rosalie Kelleher and husband Jerry, of Sun City Center; son Robert and wife Delores of Sun City Center; son Paul and wife Teresa of Tyrone, PA; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter.</p>
<p>Iola attended elementary school in Altoona and Martinsburg, PA, and was a 1928 graduate of Morrison Cove High School. She attended Penn State University for a year and then graduated from Zeth Business School in Altoona.</p>
<p>Iola was a current member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Sun City Center, and a former member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Martinsburg. Iola was a member of the Sun City Center Low Vision Club and the Accordion Club.</p>
<p>In March she took part in the Centenarian Celebration at the Sun City Center Chamber of Commerce. She enjoyed making rag rugs, knitting scarves, and taking accordion lessons.</p>
<p>Iola was a woman of strong faith, love and trust in God. She also was very active in numerous community affairs when she lived in Martinsburg.</p>
<p>The funeral service was held May 11 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Martinsburg, with Pastor Schul officiating. Interment was at Fairview Cemetery in Martinsburg. Memorial contributions may be made to the Music Ministry of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Sun City Center.</p>
