<p>Sally (Habermann) Wepfer, 80, of Sun City Center, passed away, suddenly and unexpectedly, on Sunday, June 30, 2013. She was born October 17, 1932 in Battle Creek, Michigan.</p>
<p>She was survived by her husband of 59 years, Russell; daughters Karen Thompson of Maui, HI and Barbara (Charles) Philpot; grandchildren Theodore and Samantha Philpot of Auburn, WA; brother Rudolph (Marian) Habermann of Ormond Beach, FL; sister-in-law Bernice Wittig of Fond du Lac, WI; and brother-in-law Gordon (Virginia) Wepfer of Lake Milton, OH. Her only first cousin, Rudolph Knight of Seattle, WA, also survives her.</p>
<p>After being raised in Battle Creek as the daughter of Rudolph, Sr. and Helen Habermann, she received dual degrees in Math and Education from the University of Michigan in 1954, where Russ and Sally had met. They married immediately thereafter and settled in the Milwaukee, Wisconsin area, Russ’s hometown and place of employment with General Motors. Sally then taught two years of junior high math in the suburb of Wauwatosa. Between raising their daughters and needing to follow Russ’s jobs, she got used to managing household moves: from Milwaukee to Augsburg (Germany), to the Detroit area, to Greendale, WI, back to Detroit and finally, to Carmel, IN. She also worked during some periods, for General Motors, then for an auto dealer, and for the Internal Revenue Service.</p>
<p>Sally and Russ moved to Sun City Center in 1985. Soon after arriving, she and Russ were active in the United Community Church on its decorating committee and in the Keenager’s group, and on the Security Patrol.</p>
<p>She became deeply involved with the art of Bunka. She was the treasurer of the South Bay Genealogical Society for several years, volunteered at the new Hillsborough County library’s facility, and taught genealogy classes at the United Community Church’s college. She was also a member of the Panhellenic bridge group, several other informal bridge groups, the local group of Alpha Xi Delta alumnae, and OAR. All during this time, she and Russ traveled frequently both to visit their children and to expand their world experience.</p>
<p>Friends visited the family at Sun City Center Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 10, where there was a funeral service at 1 p.m., followed by entombment at Hillsboro Memorial Gardens in Brandon.</p>
<p>In lieu of flowers, a contribution to the Community Foundation of Sun City Center is suggested. Arrangements by Sun City Center Funeral Home.</p>
