<p>Kenneth C. Schiffert, age 92, of Sun City Center passed away on August 20, 2013 to be with the Lord and his wife Jean, who pre-deceased him in 2006. He is survived by sons Timothy (Paula) and Christopher (Karen), five grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.</p>
<p>He learned the machinist trade at Bethlehem Steel Company in Bethlehem, PA, and retired after 42 years. At the Bethlehem Steelworkers Memorial, a brick commemorating his years of service and position as Order Control Supervisor of Plant and Corporation Maintenance remains with his name engraved. He had been a member of the Bethlehem Area Chamber of Commerce and enjoyed his role as superintendent of St. Thomas Sunday school during his lifetime.</p>
<p>He spent two years at Lehigh University Civil Engineering Lab, as well as two years in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific arena. Interestingly, he came to live on Granville Lane in Sun City Center, and served on the USS Granville during WWII.</p>
<p>Interment will be at a later date in Pennsylvania.</p>
