Irene Pasch Wills

<p>Irene Pasch Wills died peacefully September 26, 2013 in Orlando, Florida. Born on August 16, 1922, Irene was the first child of Elizabeth and Chester Brownell of Kalamazoo, Michigan. Irene graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School and married Earl L. Pasch, Jr. in March of 1943. Irene and Earl had three daughters: Lucinda and twins Gail and Gwyn.</p>
<p>Irene’s early life centered on her family. She cooked, she entertained friends, and she especially enjoyed sewing beautiful clothes for her young daughters. In more recent years Irene played bridge, golfed, and danced like Ginger Rogers at the Caloosa Golf & Country Club in Sun City Center, Florida. Irene also volunteered at the Sun City EMS unit. A lifelong Presbyterian, Irene was a loyal member of the First Presbyterian Church of Kalamazoo and later of Saint Andrew Presbyterian Church of Sun City Center, where she attended services for over 30 years.</p>
<p>After 35 years of marriage, first husband Earl L. Pasch Jr. passed away in 1978. The death of Irene’s second husband, James D. Ramsey of Okemos, Michigan, ended a 12-year marriage. Irene and her third husband, Richard V. Wills of Columbus, Ohio were married 19 years. Richard just passed away in 2012 at the age of 94. Irene often said she “had the perfect marriage for each phase of my life.” Irene was also preceded in death by her sister Shirley Ann Brownell Holton of Kalamazoo, and her beloved granddaughter Elizabeth Pasch Ramsey of Marietta, Georgia.</p>
<p>Surviving family members include Irene’s sister, Frances Newland of Sebring, Florida and her brother Peter Brownell of Parchment, Michigan. Irene is also survived by daughters Lucinda L. Johnson (Mrs. Wallace K. Sagendorph) of Roswell, Georgia; Gail L. Burkhart of Columbus, Ohio; and Gwyn B. Dorris (Mrs. Craig Dorris) of Orlando, Florida. Irene’s grandchildren include Melinda R. Long, John Andrew Ramsey, Dr. Ashlie Burkhart, Gage Burkhart, Lt. Cdmr. Blake Burket USN, and Morgan Burket Martinsen. Irene’s great-grandchildren are Stewart, Harrison, and Oliver Long; Mary Reese and Jack Ramsey; Oliver and Elliot Burkhart-Klien; and Lucas Martinsen. Irene also had many nieces and nephews, but we especially mention Carol Ann Holton of Kalamazoo Michigan, a wonderful companion to Irene in the last year of her life. And Irene’s family members are indebted to each of the caregivers who so faithfully assisted Irene at the end of her life.</p>
<p>A celebration of Irene’s life was held September 30 at Saint Andrew Presbyterian Church in Sun City Center, Florida. Irene’s cremated remains will be interred beside those of her first husband, Earl L. Pasch, Jr., in the First Presbyterian Church columbarium at Kalamazoo, Michigan. Irene’s family asks that rather than flowers, friends and family can honor Irene’s life with donations to the memorial fund at St Andrew Presbyterian Church of Sun City Center or to the Vitas hospice organization of Orlando, Florida.</p>
