<p>Gilbert (Gil) Bennett, 79, went to meet his Lord on Friday, November 15, 2013 in Brandon, Fla.</p>
<p>He was a Marine Veteran and served in Korea. He was a retired Hillsborough County school teacher for over 30 years, teaching business and serving as the athletic director.</p>
<p>After retiring from the school system, Gil started an estate sales business in Sun City Center and continued for 17 years until his death on Friday.</p>
<p>He was preceded in death by the love of his life and wife of 53 years Anne Bennett, as well as his dad Jesse Bennett, his son Kenneth Bennett and his grandson Brent Bennett.</p>
<p>He is survived by children Keavin Bennett and his wife Sherell, Kim Boyett and her husband Ron, and Kelly Bennett and his wife Lori; grandchildren Leigh Carmicheal, Ryan Bennett, and Krisi Boyett; mother Lois Bennett; sisters Alice Bennett of Geneva, Ala. and Linda Revelett of Bronson, Fla.; brother Harold Bennett of Ruskin, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.</p>
<p>He loved his church family at Simmons Loop Baptist Church. His service will be Thursday, Nov. 21, 2013 with Pastor Stacey Bowen and Pastor Pierre Kennedy to officiate. Visitation is from 10-11 a.m.; the funeral at 11 a.m., and the burial at Fellowship Cemetery in Lithia, Fla. at 1 p.m. Honorary pallbearers will be Dewitt Boyett, Ron Carroll, Jim Hartford, Johnny Jones, Pierre Kennedy, and Wally Peterson. Pallbearers will be Brett Bennett, Brook Bennett, Keavin Bennett, Kelly Bennett, Ron Boyett, and Matt Wheeler.</p>
<p>In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Simmons Loop Baptist Church building fund, 6610 Simmons Loop, Riverview, FL in memory of Gil Bennett. He will be missed by anyone who was blessed to have him in their life.</p>
