Wayne Alderfer

<p>Wayne Alderfer, age 88, passed away at the James A. Haley Veterans Hospital in Tampa, Fla. on January 6, 2014. He was born in South Bend, Ind. on August 29,1925, where he spent his childhood, graduating from John Adams High School. He served in the U.S. Air Force starting in 1943 and served through the end of World War II.</p>
<p>Wayne graduated from the University of Vermont with a Bachelors of Science degree in Business Administration.Wayne was employed by Studebaker Motor Company of South Bend, Ind., in the payroll department. He was later employed by IBM, first in Greencastle, Ind. before transferring to the IBM facility in Essex Jct., Vt. He retired from IBM in 1987, spending the the next 26 years living his life to the fullest.</p>
<p>Wayne enjoyed travel, fishing, golf, boating and watching sports of all kind, including soccer while cheering his grandchildren’s play. He was a member of the Board of Directors for Highgate Four at Kings Point in Sun City Center, Fla.</p>
<p>Wayne is survived by his wife of 37 years, Lorraine Alderfer; daughters Linda York and Bonnie Michel; granddaughter Jennifer Andrzejewski and husband Peter; stepson Bradley Revoir and wife Kim; stepdaughter Nancy Revoir Dezotell and husband Jeff; five grandchildren - Travis Dezotell, Kyle Dezotell, Jason Revoir, Karli Revoir Clark and Tanner Revoir. Wayne also had five great-grandchildren: Cailyn Dezotell, Camden Dezotell, Ethan Revoir, Arabella Revoir and Porter Clark. He was predeceased by his parents Ferd and Blanche Alderfer, sisters Bernice Lewis and Joyce Alderfer, and his first wife, Betty Earl.</p>
<p>Wayne will be missed greatly by his family and friends from his residences in Sun City Center, Fla. and Island Pond, Vt. Wayne was known for his strong faith, cheerfulness, his love and zeal for life, along with a positive loving attitude for all.</p>
<p>A celebration of Wayne’s life will be held at Spectacle Pond in Vermont this summer.</p>
