<p>Florence R. Mateer, age 103, passed away on January 11, 2014 at Silver Bluff Village in Canton, N.C. Florence was born Oct. 4, 1910 to the late Patrick and Florence Bradshaw Glynn.</p>
<p>In addition to her parents, Florence was preceded in death by her husband, John Francis Mateer, and her sister, Frances Sarah Wyand.</p>
<p>Left to cherish her memory are son John Francis Jr. (Phyllis); daughters Florence Regina Estill and Fidelis “Dale” Jackson (John); 8 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren.</p>
<p>Florence was a former resident of Aston Gardens at the Courtyards.</p>
<p>Services will be held at a later date. Garrett Funerals and Cremations in Waynesville, N.C. is assisting the family.</p>
