Evelyn S. Rust

<p>Evelyn Marie Staben Rust, 93, passed away on January 11, 2014 in Sun City Center, Fla.&nbsp; She lived a full adult life as an artist, wife, mother, and grandmother.</p>
<p>She was born in Springfield, Illinois, the daughter of an orthopedic surgeon, and was a graduate of MacMurray College and the Art Institute of Chicago. As a professional artist, she was a member of the prestigious Watercolor Society of America, and produced fine art in various media, including watercolor and oil paintings, charcoal and pastel drawings, and silkscreen prints in styles ranging from portraits to the abstract. Her oil painting, Blue Bouquet, won first prize for abstract art in the Boca Raton Art Festival, and her work was displayed in art shows across Florida.&nbsp;</p>
<p>After growing up, marrying, and starting a family in Illinois, Evelyn and her husband (Dal) built a home and raised their children in Boca Raton, Florida before moving to Sun City Center after their retirement. She loved to travel and learn from many cultures across the world. At Sun City Center, Evelyn continued to paint and take art classes. She read books and loved music, and she was one of the earliest members of the Unity Community of Joy Church, as well as the Sun City Center Metaphysical Society.</p>
<p>She is preceded in death by her husband, Paul Dallas Rust, Jr., and parents George and Mabel Staben. She is survived by sisters Dottie Quick and Ginger Henrichs;&nbsp; sons Paul D. Rust, III and George S. Rust (wife, Cynthia Tucker Rust); grandchildren, Alex, Lily, Christina, and Daniel; and great-grandchildren Leeman, Everett, and Lucas.</p>
<p>Funeral services were held Monday (Jan. 20) at the National Cremation and Burial Society in Ruskin, Florida. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a charity of your choosing that eases suffering or builds peace or helps nurture love and light worldwide.</p>
