<p>Lillie Hurley Houghtaling, 82, born in Ruskin, Fla., died March 16, 2014. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 61 years, Julius E. (Dooley) Houghtaling, sister Eugenia Williams, brother James Hurley, and grandson Julius Myles Houghtaling. Lillie is survived by children Julius Robert Houghtaling (Debra), Sharon Plummer and David Michael (Mike) Houghtaling (Diane); brother Lewis Hurley (Jewel); nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.</p>
<p>Not only was Lillie a loving and supportive wife and mother, she was a co-founder and owner of Dooley Groves, a citrus business in Ruskin. She enjoyed painting, needlework, flowers and music. The family celebrates with humble thoughts and prayers the life of a kind and thoughtful woman who was a loyal daughter, loving sister, faithful wife and respected mother. Lillie was a trusted friend, a woman of the land who was dedicated to her family. She had a great mind and rugged pioneer spirit that stirred true in every earthly challenge. “We celebrate Lillie’s very special place in God’s great Kingdom with love and light.”</p>
<p>The family will receive visitors at 10:30 a.m., and a memorial service will take place at 11 a.m., Friday, March 21, at Bell Shoals Baptist Church, located off Apollo Beach Boulevard at 6414 Golf and Sea Blvd., Apollo Beach, FL 33572. Interment at Ruskin Cemetery will follow.</p>
<p>In lieu of flowers, those choosing may make donations to a favorite charity, or to LifePath Hospice, 3725 Upper Creek Drive, Ruskin, FL 33573.</p>
