<p>Annabel B. Bauer, 79, former resident of Sun City Center, Fla., and recent resident of Arden Court in Carrollwood, Fla., passed away May 30, 2014. She was a member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Sun City Center and Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Mondovi, Wis.</p>
<p>Annabel earned a BSN from the College of St. Scholastica in Duluth, Minn., a MSN from Washington University in St. Louis, Mo., and her Doctorate in Nursing Education from Oregon State University in Corvallis, Ore. She retired from the U.S. Army with the rank of Colonel in 1986. She continued her career as Dean of Health Occupations at Chippewa Valley Technical College in Eau Claire, Wis.</p>
<p>Annabel spent 6 years in Malawi, Africa, as part of a team of health educators from around the world funded by the U.S. World Bank, whose purpose was to establish educational programs for medical and health occupations in Africa. She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Bernice Bauer; sisters- in-law Mary Jane Bauer and Nancy Bauer; and brother-in-law Richard Smith.</p>
<p>Survivors include brothers Walter Bauer and Robert Bauer (Joanne); sister LaVon Smith; and nieces and nephews. She will be missed by her relatives, friends and her faithful canine companion, Buddy.</p>
<p>Funeral Mass and burial with military honors will be in Mondovi, at a later date. Memorials may be made to: Sacred Heart Hospital Chapel, 900 West Clairemont Ave., Eau Claire, WI 54701 or Eau Claire County Humane Association, 3900 Old Town Hall Road, Eau Claire, WI 54701.</p>
