<p>Marilyn G. Valentine, 79, of Sun City Center, Fla., passed away August 17, 2014. Marilyn was born in Berwick, Pa., and earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Rockford College in Illinois, followed by her Master’s Degree in Education from Northern Illinois University. She retired from Rockford School District #205 after 37 years of service as an elementary school teacher. Marilyn moved from Rockford to Sun City Center in 2002, where she volunteered at the Sun City Center Library.</p>
<p>She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband Richard Eckroth, second husband Robert Valentine, and by son Steven Eckroth.</p>
<p>Survivors include children Lee Eckroth and Lynn Eckroth; sisters Jaqueline Flood and Leslie (Jim) Crop; and granddaughter Leigha (Kyle) Merod-Eckroth.</p>
<p>Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Machesney Park, Ill.</p>
