Donald Edwards Senk

May 20, 1921 – October 20, 2014

Donald Edwards Senk, 93, of Sun City Center, died October 20, 2014.  Don was born May 20, 1921, in Sharon, Conn., the son of the late William and Martha Edwards Senk.

He is survived by three daughters:  Marilyn (Dallan “Red”) Wilson, with whom he made his home, Donna Laible of Wake Forest, N.C., and Betty (William) Waterhouse of State College, Pa.; son-in-law Bert (Patti) FitzGibbons; grandchildren Carolyn (David) Rogers, Cheryl (John) Rushing and Donald Wilson; and great-grandchildren Caitlin, Christen and Megan Rogers, and Michael and Sara Rushing.

He was predeceased by wife Jeanne LaBarbera Senk; daughter Jeanne FitzGibbons; son-in-law Alan Laible; two brothers and a sister and their spouses.

Don was in the Army Air Corps in World War II, stationed in Sarasota, Fla.  Don was a longtime resident of Poughkeepsie, N.Y., where he worked as a milkman for Dairylea until he retired in 1974 and moved to Tampa, where he worked at Lakeshore Villas.  He retired again in 1978 to Sun City Center, where he co-founded the Softball Club and worked to build softball fields; the current one is named Don Senk Field.

A Memorial Mass will be held at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 702 Valley Forge Blvd., Sun City Center, on Monday, Nov. 10, 2014, at 11 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the SCC Softball Club, c/o Tom Edge, 1020 N. Pebble Beach Blvd., Sun City Center, FL  33573.
