William H. Barton

William H. Barton, 84, of Sun City Center, Fla., died December 22, 2014. Bill was born in 1930 in Bainbridge, Ohio. He received his bachelor’s degree in education from Ohio University in 1952. That same year he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, serving from 1952 to 1956.
Bill met Carol in Denver, Colo., and they were married in 1955. They began their married life at Laughlin AFB in El Rio, Texas, where he completed his Air Force service. Hired by the Chillicothe, Ohio, Board of Education in 1956, the young couple moved there as Bill began his teaching career at Chillicothe High School.
In 1968, Bill earned his master’s in education from Xavier University, and joined the Chillicothe High School Guidance Department. He served as a guidance counselor for 16 years, until his retirement in 1983. He enjoyed high school athletics and was the official football photographer for many years. He also filmed other sporting events, and served as a judge at track and field events. The couple retired in 1989 and moved to Florida.
Bill was predeceased by his parents and daughter Nancy (Barton) Long. He is survived by Carol, his loving wife of 59 years; children Virginia (Jeff) Meyer, William (Roswitha) Barton, Joseph (Michele) Barton and son-in-law Kenneth Long; grandchildren Jennifer Pollard, Kelli Baker, Brent Barton, Lily Meyer, Leslie and Matt Long, and Rachel Barton; and great-granddaughters Katherine Pollard and Amelia Baker.
Bill was a lifelong Methodist, member of the American Legion, Ohio Retired Teachers Association and Phi Beta Kappa.
Cremation was provided by Affinity Direct Cremation Service. Burial service will be at the convenience of the family. Interment will be at Green Summit Cemetery, Aldelphi, Ohio.

Rosa Carswell, 97, formerly of Trilby, Fla., passed away December 2, 2014 in Sun City<b> </b>Center.
A Memorial Service was held Dec. 6, 2014, at the Center For Restoration in Ruskin.
Rosa was born May 29, 1917, in Coleman, Fla. to Charlie Jacobs and Inez Williams.
She is survived by her children: Berthania I. Carswell of Los Angeles; Madeline J. Carswell Hughes of Sun City Center; Delaney M. Carswell Brown of New Port Richey; and Fredrick C. Carswell of Trilby. Her eldest son, Henry L. Williams, preceeded her in death.
She is also survived by grandchildren Trina T. Cohen Harris of Tampa, Tameca S. Bowens of Wesley Chapel, Shaquitta L. Hughes Haynes of Orlando, LaLuna S. Knight of Orlando, Roberta L. Knight of Tampa, and Rosa L. Pryor Appiah of New Port Richey; 14 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and four of her 12 siblings: Mettis Jacobs Sr. of Boston, Eddie L. Williams Jenkins of St. Petersburg, Annie L. Harrison of Wildwood, Fla., and Mary L. Baker of Melbourne, Fla.
