Mary M. Howe

Mary Margaret Kenihan Howe, 96 years old, a 43-year resident of Edison, N.J., passed away on Saturday, March 7, 2015, in Sun City Center, Fla., after a short illness.

She was born in Jersey City, N.J., on April 26, 1918, daughter of John Kenihan (father) and Elizabeth Colbert Kenihan  (mother), the youngest of six children.

She was married to George Joseph Howe of Manhattan, N.Y. She worked as a baker in the Edison Township School System for many years.

She was a longtime member of St. Matthew’s Roman Catholic Church in Edison. She is survived by eldest daughter Penelope Boyd and her husband William of Ruskin, Fla., James Howe and his wife Joan of Woodinville, Wash., and youngest daughter Susan Valente of Toms River, N.J.; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband George, who died on October 29, 1999; grandson Thomas Valente, who left us on October 17, 2007; her parents; and all of her siblings.

In lieu of flowers, the family aks that donations be made to the national Cystic Fibrosis Foundation at www.cff.org.

She will truly be missed, for Heaven gained an angel.  And, in an Irish saying in memory of her: “May joy and peace surround you, contentment latch your door, and happiness be with you now, and bless you evermore.”
