Doris E. Ruhsam

Doris E. Ruhsam, 90, of Sun City Center, Fla., passed away on March 15, 2015. Born in Plainfield, Conn., she was the daughter of John and Jane Taylor. She spent the first half of her life in New Bedford and Dartmouth, Mass., before moving to Florida in 1971. She lived in Sun City Center for the last 13 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Col. John Ruhsam, whom she married in 1986; husband Walter K. Schramm; and husband John F. Medeiros Sr.; son John Medeiros Jr.; and stepson James Ruhsam.
Doris is survived by her sons Richard P. (Helen) Medeiros of Rochester, Ma.; Ronald W. Medeiros of New Bedford; and stepsons John P. (Christina) Ruhsam of Fort Myers, Fla.; and Thomas (Lisa) Ruhsam of Vancouver, Wash. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Educated in New Bedford, she was a dental hygienist. She also did volunteer work at St. Luke’s Hospital there. She was a member of the United Community Church of Sun City Center. Traveling the world was her greatest passion.
In accordance to her wishes, there will be no visitation or services held. A burial service will be at a later date in a private ceremony.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Alzheimer’s Foundation of America, with gratitude.
