Bob Held, 90, entered eternal life on June 14, 2015. He was a native of Buffalo, N.Y.

Bob is survived by his wife of 70 years, Zelda (Dusty); son Bruce R. Held; daughter Carol LaRiviere; sisters Elizabeth Root and Delores Behrman; grandchildren Jacqueline and Ashleigh LaRiviere, and Jefferson Held; and great-grandchildren Alexis and Calvin Held.

Bob was a veteran of World War II, having served in Europe as a Combat Infantry Sergeant with the 44th Infantry Division, earning a Bronze Star. He was a 1948 graduate of the Missouri School of Mines at Rolla, Mo., earning a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.  Bob was a retired federal employee, having served more than 34 years in various engineering positions.

Bob was a charter member of the Sun City Center Security Patrol and served as a patrolman and dispatcher for more than 17 years. He also served as the weekly tournament chairman for the Sun City Center Men’s Golf Association for many years. Bob was a member of the United Community Church.

A memorial service will be held at the United Community Church (United Church of Christ), 1501 La Jolla Ave., Sun City Center, at 2 p.m. Monday, June 29. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Heart Association or to the Alzheimer’s Association.
