Leda Mae Combs
July 5, 1932 – July 16, 2015
Leda Mae Combs, 83, died July 16, 2015. A 30-year resident of Apollo Beach, she was born July 5, 1932, in West Virginia. She was predeceased by husband Johnny Combs.
She is survived by children Johnny Jr., Edgell, Stevie, Brenda, Linda and Eleanor; 16 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
The family will hold a military burial at a later date.
<h3><b>Dr. Ervin “Doc” Welter Leuth </b></h3>
Doc Leuth
Doc Leuth passed away at his home in Kings Point, Sun City Center, Fla., on July 18, 2015, at the age of 70. He was born a twin on May 10, 1945, in Mineral Point, Wis., to Ervin and Leona (Welter) Leuth. He graduated from high school in Platteville, Wis., where he was a great football player (halfback in the Wing-T formation). The coach nicknamed him “The Galloping Ghost.”
He was drafted into the Army in 1967 during the Vietnam conflict, and was later released to the Army National Guard. Doc Leuth then attended the University of Wisconsin and later the University of Tennessee, where he received his degrees as Doctor of Optometry and Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine. He also attended Marquette University and received a Master in Business Administration. He was again called to active duty as an Army officer in 1991 during the first Gulf War.
Doc Leuth owned a practice in Platteville for several years and also was a part of the medical staff for the Green <a href="/assets/images/uploads/wp/2015/07/flag-in-color1.gif"><img class="alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-10655" src="/assets/images/uploads/wp/2015/07/flag-in-color1-150x150.gif" alt="flag-in-color" width="150" height="150" /></a>Bay Packers and Chicago Bears. After retiring from private practice, he went to work for the Department of the Army, Fort McPherson, Ga., as the Chief of the Department of Optometry.
He later retired to Sun City Center, where he became a member of the ROMEO group, meeting every day for coffee and friendship at McDonald’s.
He is survived by sons Jonathan, Justin and Christopher; grandson Oliver; and twin brother Erwin (Bud). In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Eugene.
He will be missed by his companion, Dorothy Roy; his beloved dog, Scooter; and his many friends in Sun City Center and throughout the country. His final resting place will be in his beloved Wisconsin.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
